After five years up on this hill, we are all definitely very different to the people we were when we first arrived at Bunbury Senior High School. With the amazing views, quirky teachers, occasionally interesting canteen food, brilliant friends and numerous fun distractions, I'm amazed that any of us have learnt a thing, but somehow I think we have.
After prefect elections a year ago, our journey as a band of prefects began with a bus trip to Perth, breakfast at Maccas and a sweltering day wearing two-sizes- too-big blazers. Arriving late due to Ms Morgan's map reading skills leaving us doing laps of the freeway, we had an interesting start to an even more interesting day. Sitting through hours of talks from amazing people who have achieved brilliant things, we all learnt many things about the meaning of what it is to be a leader. Arriving home that night, motivation levels were high with exams the following week for many.
Following that November, our friendships with each other have been built to amazing levels. I think that the mix of personalities has resulted in many learning experiences. Amongst the thirteen of us, we could be described as different, with; some funny, some silly, some inspiring, some with questionable manners at times, some kind and all awesome!
Working as a team over the past twelve months, we have had an absolute ball. Alternating assembly roles from fantastic introductions to setting up equipment to perhaps over-extended speeches, public speaking has been a learning experience for us all.
Due to teacher industrial action, we decided to have our own camp. After a dangerous yet fun summer afternoon paintballing, a group of us crashed on the back lawn at Jedd's place in Dardanup to watch the stars, get to know each other and debate over pressing issues such as the true meaning of feminism and the origin of 'white horse.' We each learnt a lot that night - how paintballs can dodge a crazy girl running in zig-zags, the difficulty in perfect poker faces, how easy it is to mistake arms for legs and how roaming about the paddocks at sunset is dangerous when you are unaware of which fences are electric.
The School Ball was an awesome experience for most: one of the best nights of our lives so far!!!!
Now, it is time to say goodbye. Many happy and sad memories, but lots of fun will be missed. We would like to thank our awesome school, the entertaining teachers and our many, many crazy peers that have taught us so much.
