Oval aluminium sign with white powder coating and vinyl text and graphics in maroon and green. Title text maroon with green edging [THE HALL]; second level of text in green [BEDFORDALE]. Info text in green then maroon alternating colour [Managed by the / Bedfordale Residents Association / HIRE ENQUIRIES / 9399 3650 or 9497 2534]. Ten screw holes around edge.

Historical information

Made by Lea Stinton, a local signwriter, and located outside of Bedfordale Hall from the late 1999s or early 2000s until 2016, when the City of Armadale took over management of the hall from the Bedfordale Residents Association and replaced the sign with a COA sign. The sign was located outside the hall and held up by two posts.

Contextual Information

The fist hall was built in c1895 and was replaced with a brick building in c1900. The building was used for a variety of community events including the Bedfordale Agricultural Show from 1913. The site also featured community tennis courts. The sign represents the important roll community halls played in helping being communities together as it was a public space where public and private events were held as well as hosting community social and sporting groups.
This sign was made by Lea Stinton, a local signwriter, and located outside of Bedfordale Hall from the late 1999s or early 2000s until 2016, when the COA took over management of the hall and replaced the sign with a COA sign. The sign shows the changing face of the Bedfordale Hall and its continued role in the community. It also provides a link to how the hall's management has moved from being run by the local community to being managed by the Armadale Shire.
