GOLD WORK, SAMPLER PICTURE
A sampler of gold work techniques made by someone who has advanced from beginner levels. Marlene Macrae was experimenting with how to take simple laying and couching to create texture and height within work.
The circular panel contains 9 different design areas allowing her to practise and experiment with possibilities. She has taken purls over a circular form, used purl and thread over a gold cord, and introduced purple shading.
