TOOL, DARNING
c. 1920A common tool used for darning, repairing small items of clothing (ie socks) to prolong their life.
A wooden half round shape mounted on a wooden stick handle resembles a mushroom.
Mending clothing rather than replacing it was commonplace in the first half of the 20th century. Most workbaskets contained a tool of this type which was used by both men and women.
