GENERAL EMBROIDERY, BAG
An excellent example of a lady’s dolly bag, a very popular accessory in the late 19th C.
The exterior is black silk embroidered in a chinoiserie design. The bag is lined with gold silk with an internal drawstring compartment of apricot silk. The drawstring of the bag is black cord with two pompoms at each end (one now missing). The circular base of the bag also closed with cord and pompoms appears to be a hidden needlecase with 2 circles of wool cloth to hold the needles.
