Historical information

This doll was given to Debbie Bettenay when she was growing up on the family orcahrd, Irimply' in Karragullen in the 1950s. Debbie named the Geraldine after one of her cousins.
The doll was made in Great Britain and is an early example of the new style of hard plastic dolls with synthetic hair which were quickly replacing the traditional, composit, bisque or china dolls. The Pedigree Doll Company in England was one of the early adopters of the new cheaper materials. The company was a leading British toy manufacturer from the 1930s through to mid 1980s.
