Overview

Series of horse racing club booklets relating to the Wyening, Bolgart, Northam and Jennacubbine Race Clubs. Booklets are mass printed with various handwritten notations, relating to the race line-ups for each meet, including betting odds. Booklets printed by Toodyay Herald or Colebatch & Co. Northam, and feature simple engraved illustrations on covers.

Statement of significance

The value of the items considered for accession lies their research value as dated documents relating to regional sporting organisations in the 1920s/30s. The items do not give any further insight as to the organisation of the clubs or the experiences of their members, however they do show the importance and extent of horse racing as a community sport within the Avon region. While the items are only of local significance, they may in the future provide some information for historical researchers.
