Nineteenth century sepia photo of female from waist up identified as Melinda Sinclair with hair in bun, high necked dark clothes, brooch at neck.
Photograph mounted on brown card, with photographer's name on stamp at lower right of card.

Historical information

Melinda Amelia Wilkerson was born at Toodyay in 1855 and married Thomas Napoleon Bonaparte Sinclair in 1888. She died in 1916, aged 60 years, and is buried at Katrine Cemetery.
Part of a collection of items, mainly photographs, relating to the Sinclair family and donated to the museum in 2014 by Marilyn Walker of Kingscliffe, NSW.

Contextual Information

Photographer Charles Millington Nixon operated a photographic studio under his own name in Fremantle from 1901 and opened a second studio in Northam in May 1902.
