B/W studio portrait of elderly couple, William and Elizabeth Efford. A white-haired man with full beard, William is dressed in a three piece suit, shirt and tie and is standing beside the chair on which Elizabeth is seated, her hands clasped in her lap. Her hair is parted in the middle and drawn back from her face. She is wearing a long skirt and a fitted bodice with long sleeves, a deep neck with collar, and an embroidered central panel, to the bottom of which is looped a long strand of beads. On the rear are directions regarding a print and [William & Elizabeth/ Efford/ Rottnest/ Lighthouse keeper/ Harbour Master Fremantle].

Historical information

William Thomas Efford was the oldest son of Samuel I (Pensioner Guard) and Eliza Efford. Married Elizabeth Dinsdale. He was light house keeper.
