After coming to WA, Ernest James Beart worked on a pipeline in Menzies to serve the mines. He married Kate O'Donoghue from Menzies in 1897. Beart became an engineer for Smith and Timms working on the new rail link between Kalgoorlie and Menzies and then worked as a Timber Agent.
Beart acquired Bamboo Springs, a station in Nullagine in 1906 and split his time there and at his home Hillside in Claremont. He was a former Claremont Councillor from 1905-1907.
Children: Kathleen Marjorie (b.1898), Dorothy K (b, 1906) and William B (b. 1912).
