Overview

A small black and white photograph showing a large group of horses taken from behind. All are wearing saddles and carrying equipment. At the front of the group a small number of mounted troopers can be seen. The reverse of the image has the proforma printing of part of a postcard and an inscription describing the image. The photograph has a small border and is in good condition, although there are 3 separate marks on the reverse that appear to be from a liquid and some of the ink notation is smeared.

Historical information

The 3rd Light Horse Brigade [Australian Mounted Division] was formed in Australia, October 1914. It was attached to New Zealand and Australian Division December from 1914 – April 1915 and then assigned to Anzac Mounted Division in March 1916. The Brigade was attached to British Imperial Mounted Division in February 1917 and assigned to the Australian Mounted Division in June 1917.
