Historical information

Since those irresponsible female counterparts of “the traitors to the common cause” can’t uphold the honour of this magazine by writing an egotistical article, it seems, as
usual, that the poor dispensable (?) male must do it.

The year has been a highly successful one from the point of view of the boarding boys. Our teas have provided them with new tactics. The faster and the more they eat, the more astonished the girls become . . . thus they eat less. Each tea is, in fact, a gourmand versus gourmet match.

During second term we had a mighty party at the home of Mrs. Martinson at the meagre cost of one window (thanks to the Bride !). We all enjoyed the evening (eating competitions could be carried out full scale) and wish to extend our hearty thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Martinson and Mr. and Mrs. Kelso for entertaining us so. Here’s hoping that their camera’s lived through the ordeal.

We boys must give thanks to the girls for their efficiency of organisation in running the socials. They did all the brain work (note the decorations) while the boys did all the “pleasant” work. However, each sex hid its misgivings and all Pre’s blended into a harmonious (?) work force.

Anybody who believes in equal rights would be thoroughly disillusioned if he (note HE) attended one of our Pre’s meetings. “Brode” and her “Yes Girls” easily overrun the confused boys, due mainly to the sheer weight of their argument They, of course, argue for themselves, of themselves and, as always, by themselves. Still—nations work that way!

In closing we wish next year’s Pre’s the best of luck and hope they have as much fun as we did in ruling the roost. Also, may each Junior and Leaving candidate live up to his hopes and desires in the coming exams.
