St Patrick's Church
1923A sepia photograph of St Patrick's Catholic church on light beige cardboard. The photograph shows the right hand side of the church, it is a brick building with a tin roof. There are four air vents on the roof. There are five arched windows on the right side, and the church vestibule has two small windows and a white cross. Above the vestibule are three arched windows and a white cross. The church is built in gothic style with casement windows. There is a cross on each end of the roof of the church. Around the front of the church is a wooden railing fence.
The church was built in 1923 and was changed in 1962.This church was built in Amherst Street and was the second one built by the Catholic Parish. The Church had additions made in 1962. It is in Amherst Street on the same site at the Convent school, St Patrick's school was also known as St Rita's Convent.

On the back of the photograph on the bottom right hand side is written in blue pen 'Catholic Church Open 1923'
According to an article in the Great Southern Herald dated 22 Aug 1923 pg2, the building was consecrated by his Grace Archbishop Clune. The article discusses the first St Patricks Church which had been built for thrity years previously and describes the new building and the consecration ceremony. This building was built by Mr. Alex Thomson.
