SCULPTURE: WAR MEMORIAL MINIATURE, SUBIACO RETURNED SERVICES LEAGUE SUB BRANCH REPLICA
1937 - 1941Wooden box (a) that is square in shape. There is a domed roof and a rounded facede of the box with two rounded doors on the front side with round gold handles. Across the top reads 'Subiaco Sub Branch R.S.L' and 'Lest We Forget' in gold lettering. Inside the box is painted black and there is a miniature of the WA State Warm Memorial. There is a light which can be turned on to light up the sculpture.
On the left hand side of the box is a silver plaque which reads 'Model made and presented by H.A Turpin Jan 14th 1937' ' Cabinet by E Turpin Sept 26 1941'
A white power cord is also attached to the left side.
The wooden box sits ontop of (b).
b) Wooden stand with four caster wheels on the legs. Stand is a A shape with a wide horizontal top that supports the replica memorial and second horizontal piece that sits just above the wheels.
Item was made in 1937 and given to the Subiaco RSL Sub Branch. It remained in the Subiaco Community Centre and RSL Hall until 2019 when the Subiaco and Shenton Park RSL branches were merged. A second copy still exists in the Shenton Park Community Centre. This copy has a colourful painted background that decipts the view at the State War Memorial.
