The 'Kangaroo' Series

1921

Overview

Horizontal cream postcard with the words 'A HAPPY / BIRTHDAY TO YOU' in the bottom left corner in black decratrive font. There is a rectangular painterly image of lady in an apron and bonnet, walking down a dirt path. There is a church in the left background and two trees in the right foreground. The image is surrounded by a red line on the top edge and two short sides. In the bottom right corner text reads: ' As Birthdays come, / and Birthdays go,.. / Love's shining stars . . . / still brightly glow .' There is a chunk missing from the top long edge.

The reverse has a hand written message in black ink which reads: 'To my dear wife 17th oct 1921 / Wishes for a vert Happy Birthday / and very many more to follow / and true and fond love from / your Hubby Jim - xxx / and lots more'. There is a blue image of a kangaroo in the top centre with the words 'POST' and 'CARD' either side of it.
