Reference letter for J. Fox

John Fox (1816-66) was a butcher convicted of defrauding the Excise and transported to the colony on the Lord Raglan in 1858 (no.4951). He worked at Newcastle (now Toodyay) before moving to Greenough.
Charles Samuel Monger (1838-94) was a business manager and owner at Toodyay.

This is to certify that I do this day discharge John Fox haveing no further employment for him at present and I believe him to be a honest hardworking Man.
