Overview

Sepia photograph of the Subiaco (Brass) Band, 1920. A group of nineteen uniformed band members. The group is arranged in four rows. The front row consists of two members, a boy and a man, seated on the floor. The second row is made up of seven men, seated on what appears to be a bench. The third row consists of seven members, standing. The fourth row is made up of seven members, who appear to be standing on a platform. Band members are seen holding various instruments. The band uniforms have high collars, and braid on the jacket front. Caps are worn which bear a star shaped badge centre front. Circular 'head and shoulders' photographs of two more bandsmen are glued to the photograph at top left, and top right. Three men in 3 piece suits, one at centre front and one at each end of the centre row are included (non uniformed and not holding an instrument). Two large wind instruments flank the front row and two drums are lying at centre front. Handwritten at the top of the photograph are the words 'Subiaco Band 1920'.
