Historical information

Cultural material salvaged from Brookdale Archaeological Site (BAS) 53 site at the Sienna Wood residential development under Section 18 of the Aboriginal Heritage Act. Horizon Heritage Management was engaged by Stockland to undertake salvage of cultural material, site recording and test pitting with two Whadjuk Noongar Traditional Owners, within the sienna Woods residential development in Hilbert in September 2024.

The cultural materials excavated from BAS 53 comprised of predominantly quartz flakes, cores and debitage which match the lithology and artefact type identified when the sites were recorded in 2006.

At BAS 53 all identified sub-surface materials were salvaged in line with Section 18 requirements.
