School built 1917 (first requested 1912). Initially consisted of one pavilion room 30 x 20 feet costing c $670. Timber framed, iron roofed building. With wooden dado, the room had 3 large windows, hinged at top and with small panes of frosted glass, on western side, large sliding shutters of canvas ? (later asbestos) on south end and eastern side. Small storeroom, cloakroom and entry porch with skillion roof on northern end. Opened 13th August 1917, head teacher Miss Mena Houston. On the first day 8 children were enrolled, by the end of the week this had grown to 48 children. For Arbor Day, 1918, Claremont Roads Board sent 1 dozen Wattle Trees, which, together with pines and camphor laurels, were planted and gardens made.
