Historical information

Established 1955 in corrugated iron and asbestos buildings used as army barracks in World War 2. During 1939-45 the site occupied by Australian Army. The teachers college occupied the western part of site. Graylands Migrant Hostel occupied eastern part of camp site. Used as temporary accommodation until a new college could be built. The temporary college closed 1979.
