Historical information

The Swanbourne Hotel was a popular Art Deco hotel on the corner of Franklin Street and Claremont Crescent, Swanbourne.

Designed by Marshall Clifton and Reginald Summerhayes, the building was completed in December 1940. The hotel's name commemorated the home of Thomas Francis Fremantle, England's first Baron Cottesloe of Swanbourne and Hardwick. The design of the curved windows in front bar was inspired by pre-war ocean liners.

Demolished August 1999.
