Claremont Football Team

c. 1925
Overview

Group team photograph.

Thirteen men in an informal pose. Eleven of the group are wearing the same sports uniform.
A soccer ball is positioned in the foreground.
To the right is man wearing a hat and holding a flag.
A soccer goal is in the left background.
Seated behind team is small group with a dog.
Shadowed figure with hat in the centre foreground.

Historical information

Appears to have been taken in Fremantle, with War Memorial in background.

Whilst the inscription on the back of the photograph indicates this is a photograph of an Australian Rules team, the presence of a soccer ball, soccer goals, eleven players not eighteen, a linesman carrying a flag would indicate this is more likely to be a photograph of a soccer team.

The East Claremont Soccer Club (sometimes referred to as the East Claremont Soccer Football Club in newspapers) was active from the 1920s to the 1950s.
