Hand embroidered by the donor, this vibrant contemporary portrayal of an elephant is a design by Trish Burr, embroidery artist from Zimbabwe, whose books and kits are very popular in 21st century in Australia.
‘The Magnificent Tembo’ is a striking portrayal of an elephant in whitework with colour embroidery, stitched in shades of grey, taupe, mustard and gold. Tembo is the Swahili and Bantu name for elephant. These gentle giants are among the most intelligent creatures on the planet but their lives are endangered due to the ivory trade.
