This necktie is made of black polyester fabric. Embroidered in gold-coloured thread, is a stylised swan above the word 'Baseball'.

Historical information

The tie was part of the official uniform of the 1978 Western Australian State baseball team when they competed in the 39th Claxton Shield Championships. The Claxton Shield was the name of the premier baseball competition in Australia, held between State-based teams, as well as the name of the trophy awarded to the champion team.

The 1978 championships was held in Brisbane, Queensland with New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia competing for the trophy. Western Australia won the series for the second consecutive year when they beat South Australia 4-1 at Perry Park.
