1955 Western Australian Night Series Baseball Team

The first national Night Series baseball championships was contested by South Australia and Victoria in 1953. It was held at Norwood Oval in South Australia. Winners of the series, South Australia, were presented with the Chrysler Cup by Chrysler Australia Ltd, who intended to present a replica of the cup to the winning team each year.
In 1954 New South Wales and Western Australia joined the competition, which was again held at Norwood Oval in Adelaide, from December 28-30. South Australia were again the champions.
Western Australia hosted the 1955 series, which was held at the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) ground on December 28-30. New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia once again competed for the Chrysler Cup.

A copy of the photograph was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by the family of Ted Ettles, who was a member of the 1955 team.
This is a rare photographic example of the 1955 Western Australian baseball team that competed in the early years of the Australian national Night Baseball Series.
