c. 1960Black and white copy photo shows front view of the old chapel (c.1893) in the grounds of Catherine McAuley Centre in 1960, with a two storey building behind - the original Benedictine Monastery built 1858 which was demolished in 1979. The photo shows the T shaped building with steep pitched roof and four arched stained glass windows clearly visible. To the left of the chapel are some large trees, under which are four wooden benches in a row. On the last bench two Sisters of Mercy nuns are seated, dressed in full white habit and with dark shoes showing beneath their long skirts. Flower beds dot the front lawn.
