Overview

(a) Sepia tinted, head and shoulders print of Emily Merralls. A round-faced woman with hair waved from a side parting, she is wearing round glasses. Her floral frock has a scooped neckline featuring mesh insertions and a central 'bow' of fine, ribbed material. On the rear in ball point pen [EMILY MERRALLS/ (NEE BRAY)/ BORN 1870 10th August/ DIED 1958/ GRANDMOTHER OF PATRICIA ARLINE EDIS]. (b) B/W Print of William Merralls. He has a strong-featured face and short white hair. The image has been 'faded-out' so that only his shirt front, polka-dotted bow tie, waistcoat and lapels of his jacket are clear.

Historical information

William (Bill) Merralls was employed by J&W Bateman's stock and station agency based in Fremantle and lived in Cottelsoe with his family.
He was married to Emily Bray and had daughters Doris Edna Merralls (b.1901) and Elaine Ford Merralls (b.1913).
