Soldiers Road got its name in 1919 around the time that returning World War I soldiers were purchasing land along the road through the government Soldier Settlement Scheme. It was the role of the Armadale Kelmscott Road Board to name and maintain the road.
Some time in the late 1900s the yellow street sign was installed at the Roleystone end of Soldiers Road by the local government where it stayed until it was replaced in c2020 by the City of Armadale.
