MACHINE EMBROIDERY, ART WORK
2018Amanda McCavour is a Canadian artist who has been working with machine embroidery both as an artist and a teacher for many years. She was invited to submit pieces for the Exhibition 'Beyond The Seam', curated by Martien Van Zuilen and held at CASM in Mandurah. The exhibition was held between 26 May and 24 June 2018.
This pieee entitled 'Hands' was one of 6 submitted all of which were influenced by diagrams in 'How to Craft Manuals'.
'Hands' is made with free machine embroidery on disolvable fabric. A grid is first created over the design area with the machining of the design over. This allows the design to have a solid structure.
The artwork was pinned to the wall for the exhibition. The stainless steel pins are with the accession notes.
