c. 1980 - 1989Colourful hand embroidered door hanging from the Kutch region of Gujarat State in N.W. India.
Different communities in the Kutch have a different style of embroidery. This is SODHA, with shi sha mirrors, has a geometric pattern with dense and raised filling stitches.
The item was purchased at an exhibition in 1996 held at Gallery East in Bay View Terrace, Claremont, organised by the Shrujan Organisation in Kutch.
