Sheep Shears

Overview

A tool that has two scissor like cutting edges at one end and a curved bow at the other end.

Historical information

The shears have been fashioned from the one piece of iron and were used to cut wool from a sheep and dags from the sheep's bottom. The tool is held by hand immediately behind the two scissors and when the scissors are squeezed together the blades will cut wool or dags, the flexible bow/spring handle forces the blades apart after each squeeze.
