The tickets are perforated so the a ticket can be torn off. Ration cards were issued to the population of Australia to control war time products and spending. All basic items were controlled. Fuel, food, clothing etc. These were for the purchase of motor spirit.

Details
On the ticket on a blue background in white typed lettering is "COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA" in blue lettering on a white background is "MOTOR SPIRIT RATION TICKET". Below this writing are two vertical ellipses with white lettering of "1" and in blue lettering "ONE GALLON". Between the two ellipses on a blue background and white typed lettering is "VALID ONLY UNTIL 30TH SEP 1947 NOT TRANSFERRABLE".
Below the ellipses in blue typed lettering is "THIS TICKE MUST BE ENDORSED IN INK BY CONSUMER WITH NAME, LICENCE NUMBER AND VEHICLE REGISTRATION NUMBER".
