Overview

Royal Aero Club of South Australia silver tone and enamel lapel badge. It has an outer border in dark blue enamel with silver edges both sides in which is written 'ROYAL AERO SA CLUB' in silver letters. The central area is dark blue enamel. There is a silver metal bird (most likely an eagle) with wings outstretched well beyond the central circle on either side. The bird's head is facing to the right. This is all surmounted by a King's Crown with red enamel detailing.
The reverse is plain and flat with a butterfly clutch pin backing. There is no maker's mark.

Historical information

The Royal Aero Club of South Australia (SA) was established at Parafield in 1926. This pin is likely to date from the World War Two era based on the presence of the King's Crown.
