Soldiers' Home League fundraising badge/button - Faith
c. 1917Circular fundraising badge or button sold during World War One to support the Soldiers' Home League of South Australia.
It is made from printed paper between a tin base and celluloid cover.
It features a classical, profile portrait of a woman wearing a rust coloured head scarf looking upward or forward on an olive coloured background. The word 'FAITH' is printed in white at the bottom iof the portrait.
Around the outer edge are the words in dark text, 'SOLDIERS' HOME LEAGUE/ FAITH IN THE JUSTNESS OF OUR CAUSE'.
The reverse has a metal back with a void into which a metal pin is secured for attachment. There is no maker's mark.
The South Australian Soldiers' Home League Inc. was a prominent South Australian volunteer and fundraising organisation formed during World War One to establish and support care facilities for wounded and repatriated Australian servicemen returning from overseas.
