Gold tone slouch hat screw back earrings
Matching pair of gold tone slouch hat screw back earrings. They feature a depiction of an Australian Imperial Force slouch hat with the brim turned up on one side (as traditionally worn).
The hats are hollow underneath but have a circular metal plate which is soldered to the top brim of the hat from below. A metal loop extends from the circular plate and terminates in a circle through which a screw back earring holder is threaded for adjustment.
The slouch hat and backing are painted gold, some of which is wearing off to reveal the base metal. There are no maker's marks.
Photo lockets, pendants and sweetheart brooches and other jewellery were very popular during wartime and there are a large number of them in the collection.
The date of manufacture is unknown and could be from either World War One or Two.
