1914-15 Star a 4-pointed bronze medal, ensigned with a crown, crossed swords, oak wreath, cypher of King George V and “1914-15” centre.

Historical information

A First World War 1914-15 Star Medal issued to Private James William CAFFIN 4508, 3rd Field Artillery Brigade. Born in Hampshire, England in 1879, James moved to Albany prior to the First World War. Enlisting whilst farming in Albany on 6 May 1915, he listed 12 years pervious service in the Garrison Artillery in India. he embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia on board HMAT A62 Wandilla on 25 June 1915 seeing action at Gallipoli, Türkiye, and later France returning on 28 February 1919. James married Ethel May (nee SMITH) in 1921 in Perth, returning to Albany to resume farming. He died on 4 August 1956 aged 78 years old. This medal formed part of a three (3) medal group missing British War Medal and Victory Medal.
