Katanning War Memorial
c. 1921A sepia photograph of a large crowd of people watching the unveiling of an Australia flag from the statue of a soldier. I
The Katanning War Memorial was erected on the corner of Prosser Oval in 1921. The area was then known as the Recreation Ground. The Memorial was paid for by public subscription and there was great controversy about where it should be placed in town. When erected the soldier was facing the street and looking over the town. It was changed in the 1980's with the development of the area as Prosser Park.
