Overview

A black and white photograph of men unloading bags of grain from a truck and stacking the bags in a wheat stack. There is a man on the truck who places the bag on a scales which are sitting on a raised platform. The man on the raised platform would record the weight and the man on the ground would then carry the bag on his back to the stack. On the right hand side of the photograph is a man with a bag of wheat on his shoulders walking up a plank of wood to the fourth stacked row of wheat. The truck has no licence plate.

On the back of the photograph handwritten in blue ink is "Coyrecup siding 1939-40"

Statement of significance

Before the inventions of bulk handling of wheat, stacks such as these were common along the railway line. Coyrecup railway siding is in a very good wheat growing area east of Katanning on the Nyabing railway line.
