Patent Plate from Stump Jump Plough

Overview

An oblong heavy metal plate with the corners that have been cut in a convex shape. There are two large holes either end of the plate to fix the plate onto a machine.

Historical information

The plate came off a stump jump plough. The stump jump plough was designed to allow the plough to 'jump' over rocks and stumps.

At the top of the plate in embossed lettering is "C.H.SMITH'S" underneath is "1119", underneath is "PATENT No 2639"
