He is wearing a jacket with collared waistcoat, wing collar and patterned bow tie. Printed beneath [CHAPMAN 1906-7]. (b) Similar portrait, he is wearing a high buttoned waistcoat, with matching jacket. There is a pin attached to his jacket pocket. He is wearing a wing collar and checked tie. Printed beneath [ CHAPMAN 1908-9]. (c) Similar to others, he is wearing a checked jacket and waistcoat with a carnation in the lapel, a white tie and stiff collar. Printed beneath [CHAPMAN 1914-15].

Historical information

Robert Chapman (1864-1926) was a builder and contractor. Former Town of Claremont Councillor. Married to Julia Douglas. Bought property at 7 John Street in c1904 and built a house called Sleasford. Keen rifleman.

Children: Athelstan Robert (b. 1892), Clarice May (b. 1893) and Doreen Alexandra (b. 1902).
