Statement of significance

MEDIUM
This book produced by the Victoria Government Department of Agriculture was used by Olga Beales to assist in the preservation of food at their family home on the orchard at Roleystone (c1925-1956) and the orchard at Seville Grove.
Preserving and pickling excess food, such as fruit from the orchard, was an important skill for any household if they wished to preserve food for long time storage in a time when cheap accessible refrigeration was limited as was easy access to shops selling fresh food.
