Overview

A black and white photograph of the 1973 Australian Baseball Team at the 10th Asian Baseball Championships in the Rizal Stadium in Manila.

Historical information

The Asian Baseball Championship is the main championship tournament between national baseball teams in Asia, governed by the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA). It is held every other year in odd-numbered years and since 1983 it also functions as the qualification games for the Baseball at the Summer Olympics, if the event year is exactly one year before the Olympics.

The 1973 Asian Baseball Championship was the tenth five-nation tournament, and was held in Manila in the Philippines for the fourth time, from April 28 to May 7. Japan won the tournament, their seventh Asian Championship, with defending champions South Korea (2nd), Taiwan (3rd), Philippines (4th) and Australia (5th).
