1994 Australian Baseball Team - Baseball World Cup, Nicaragua

Overview

A colour photograph, mounted on white carboard, of the 1994 Australian Baseball Team. Surrounding the photo is a pink cardboard frame bearing 24 original signatures of team members, in black pen. Players are wearing grey playing unifoms with yellow and green trim around the edge of the neck and sleeves, and the word 'Australia' across the chest. Each playing top has a player's number in the bottom left-hand quadrant on the front of the playing top. The baseball caps are green with a yellow letter 'A' on the cap crown and a yellow peak.

Historical information

The 1994 Baseball World Cup (BWC) was the 32nd international men's amateur baseball tournament. The tournament was sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation, which titled it the Amateur World Series (AWS) from the 1938 tournament to the 1986 AWS.

The 1994 tournament was held, for the fourth time, in Nicaragua, from August 3 to 14. There were 16 participating countries, split into two groups, with the first four of each group qualifying for the finals. Cuba defeated South Korea in the final to win its 21st title.
