1986 Australian Baseball Team cap - Festival of Sport

Overview

A 1986 Australian Baseball Team cap in the Australian national colours of green and yellow. The front of the crown is green synthetic fabric with an appliqued stylised letter 'A' in gold thread. The back of the crown is green plastic mesh. The top button and the visor are covered in yellow fabric.

Historical information

Between September 1986 and March 1987 a Festival of Sport was held in Perth, Western Australia to complement the America'a Cup yachting series held in Fremantle during January and February of 1987. Thousands of competitors took part in the sporting festival, in a wide array of sports, including baseball, cricket, athletics, hockey, basketball, squash, golf, racing, trotting, cycling, football, lawn bowls, karate, kick-boxing and boxing competitions and a world sprint car championship.

The international round robin baseball tournament was held at Parry Field Baseball Park between the 8th and 15th of December 1986. Competing teams were Chinese Taipei, Japan, USA and Australia, with Japan winning the tournament.
