Carved sailor barware item - bottle opener

Overview

Bottle opener with a painted, carved timber depiction of the head and shoulders of a sailor. He is wearing his white cap with dark blue tally band and sailor suit of light and dark blue with a flap collar at the back. His face is quite detailed with blue eyes, red lips and rosy cheeks.
The bottle opener is made from metal which has a little surface rust.
There are no maker's marks but it is believed to have been made in Italy by Anri.
Another carved figural sailor in the form of a corkscrew is also in the collection, perhaps part of a larger bar set.

Historical information

Anri, a company in Italy, have produced wooden carved figural corkscrews from the turn of the 20th century. This example is believed to date to the mid 20th Century.
