Katanning War Memorial
c. 1921A sepia photograph of the base of the memorial with wreaths in place. In the background is a wooden fence and on the right hand side is a wooden seat with a table. Further in the background are single wooden seats around an oval.
The Katanning War Memorial was erected on the corner of Prosser Oval in 1921. The area was then known as the Recreation Ground. The Memorial was paid for by public subscription and there was great controversy about where it should be placed in town. When erected the soldier was facing the street and looking over the town. It was changed in the 1980's with the development of the area as Prosser Park.
