Printed beneath [ DEWAR 1921-22]. d) Image shows David Dewar, with his left side partially shadowed. He is wearing a dark jacket with a patterned tie, tiepin and a white collared shirt. Printed beneath [DEWER 1924-27]. This appears to be a typo - DEWAR.

Historical information

David James Dewar was a building contractor and a former Town of Claremont Councillor from 1918- 1927.

He was married to Sarah Jane Bailey. Children: David James (b.1906), William David (b.1902), Percy (b.1909)

Dewar lived at 21 Vaucluse Street and had a furniture and joinery factory next door at 23 Vaucluse Street that burned down in 1927.
