Their children were: Walter Alfred (b. 2.5.1901 - 24.10.1983), William Edward (1902 - 7.3.1903), Septimus Herbert (b.1916), Hilda K. (b.1908) and Thelma Edith (4.1905 - 27.12.1905) .

He was educated at the Commercial School in Perth and became a junior office assistant with William Sandover & Co., hardware merchants. He went from there into his father's oil and colour shop, learning painting, signwriting, gilding etc. In 1890 Drabble went into this trade in Claremont, a business which he later handed over to his brother, William. He then became an importer of ironmongery and general hardware.

In 1911 he was elected Councillor for the East Ward of the Municipality of Claremont and is shown as a Justice of the Peace in 1913 Postal Directory. He prospered with growth of Claremont and was responsible for erecting many buildings on land he owned in Bay View Terrace: National Bank, chemist, tearooms, drapers, picture theatre and shops on East side.

Hunting was his chief recreation and he was an excellent shot.
