COMMEMORATIVE COIN: CORONATION CROWN (COIN) ELIZABETH II
1953Circular silver crown (5 shillings) with a horse and rider embossed on the face with a crown and 'EIIR' on either side. The words 'Elizabeth.II.Dei.Gratia.BrittaOMN.Regina.Fidei.Defensor' together with the denomination encircle the coin just inside the rim. The reverse shows the emblems of England (rose), Scotland (thistle), Ireland (clover) and Wales (leek) together with their shields and the date (1953) as well as a crown at its centre. All are embossed. The words 'Faith and Truth I will bear unto you' are engraved on the rim.
The coin was issued to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
