INK BOTTLE: TWO PENNY, STONEWARE
Light brown stoneware ink bottle, deepening to russet brown on one side where it was too close to the fire during the firing process. It has a squat, tubular body with straight sides, shaping shoulders and a small ring-shaped neck and lip.
These ink bottles came in a series, this one being the second smallest. The 1d 'penny' bottle was the smallest. The name was carried in the trade and referred to the price of the bottle.
